Transport East and University of Hertfordshire’s Smart Mobility Unit host symposium on rural transport innovation
Transport East and the University of Hertfordshire’s Smart Mobility Unit hosted our New Solutions for Rural Transport symposium at the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG).
It was a fantastic opportunity to bring together a strong mix of sector leaders and experts for a day dedicated to sharing ideas on how we can improve connectivity for rural communities, whilst learning from a range of current good practice from across the country.
Across the day, discussions ranged widely from new thinking in rural public transport and the often-overlooked relationship between housing and transport, to transferable best practice from other rural areas and the role data and technology can play in shaping smarter mobility solutions. We also explored how rural areas can support a thriving visitor economy while easing pressure on local roads.
Thank you to everyone who took part, presented, and contributed to what was a thought-provoking day. We look forward to building on the ideas raised as we continue our work to improve transport and travel for people and businesses in rural communities.
