Transport East was shortlisted at the National Transport Awards, recognising the partnership’s work to improve travel and transport for rural communities. We were delighted to be a finalist in the John Prescott Regional Transport Authority of the Year Award.

While we didn’t win, the shortlisting highlights our efforts to bring together partners to tackle the unique transport challenges facing rural areas. This includes shaping investment priorities, championing innovative approaches to rural mobility, and ensuring the voice of rural and coastal communities in the East are heard nationally. Other organisations shortlisted included Transport for Greater Manchester, Transport for West Midlands and the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority.

Rural mobility is central to the daily lives of one in three people across our region – from accessing opportunities and staying connected with each other.

The nomination also highlights the role of Transport East in shaping the region’s long-term transport priorities, and work to unite partners to make the case for investment for improved travel and transport.
