East of England Unites for Climate Action at Net Zero Conference
It was fantastic to return for another year of the East of England Net Zero and Climate Conference – and this year’s event was another success.
The event was hosted by Local Government East, with support from Transport East, England’s Economic Heartland, and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT). With the theme “Powering Change Through Collaboration”, the day featured talks, workshops, and lively discussions on how the region can come together to address climate challenges.
Will Quince opened the day with a speech focusing on the role of transport in carbon emissions. He noted that transport is one of the biggest sources of emissions in the East of England – around 40% – and stressed the need for better rural connections, greener vehicles, and smarter transport planning to meet climate targets. He also highlighted the progress made in the last 12 months, particularly on EV charging infrastructure and more people using sustainable transport. His message was clear: working together is the only way to drive meaningful change.
The rest of the day featured expert panels and hands-on workshops exploring everything from clean energy to future-proof housing and sustainable transport. The ideas and actions discussed will feed into a new Net Zero White Paper for the region. The event was a strong example of how partnerships and collaboration can turn ambition into action.
