Transport East outlines key milestones and future priorities in new Annual Report and Business Plan
Our Annual Report for 2025–26 is now available and demonstrates the value delivered for regional partners over the past year, with our Business Plan setting out strategic priorities for the year ahead.
Rail was a big focus of the year, with key achievements including convening regional partners to shape the future of rail, making the case to extend East West Rail opportunities beyond Cambridge, and establishing the Thameside Taskforce to align rail priorities for freight and passengers in south Essex.
The report also highlights significant progress in rural transport and data-led decision-making. Through our Rural Mobility Centre of Excellence, we shared critical insight into the travel challenges faced by young people in rural communities, helping influence national policy. We also supported local pilot schemes in securing funding through the Connected Places Catapult. Additionally, the launch of the TRIP digital insights platform has provided local authorities with a wealth of data tools to support their own transport planning and to develop stronger cases for new projects.
Throughout the year, we actively represented the region in Parliament and at major national events including party conferences, Interchange and Better Transport Week, and celebrated local successes such as the opening of Beaulieu Park station.
Looking ahead to 2026–27, we remain committed to being a valued regional partner on transport issues as local authorities navigate the proposed government reorganisations and devolution transitions.
